Guess what we have?

Travel dates!  We have our travel dates to go meet Ariya!  We are scheduled to pick up her referral on May 11 and should travel to her region a day or 2 after that.  We are unbelievably excited.

We are very lucky.  We found a woman, a new friend, who organizes charity visits to orphanages and nursing homes in the region of Ariya's institution.  She gathers volunteers and supplies as well as toys and special treats and delivers them to places that are in need.  I admire the giving spirit of this woman and look forward to meeting her.  Anyway, this past weekend she traveled to Ariya's orphanage with supplies, crafts, and goodies and we asked her to keep an eye out for our girl.  To our excitement she was able to take several pictures of her as well as get a few glimpses of her on video.  The best part, the part that makes me so grateful we are traveling soon is that Ariya wrapped her arms around this woman's neck and asked if she was her mom.  She had to tell her "no".  She said Ariya is happy, kind, and likes hugs.
That this child still seeks out affection and seeks out a mom warms my heart.  Her little spirit has not been crushed in spite of all she has been through.  That to me is a miracle.  It is a miracle that our new friend has been delivering goods to this place not just once this year, but this was the 3rd trip this year!  She gave love to Ariya even just for a short time.

So close.  That is where we are at in the process - so close!  All we are waiting for is a phone call letting us know when we travel.  Let me tell you - every time the phone rings my heart skips a beat.
I need to take this time to say "thank you" to so many people.  We are so extremely grateful for everyone's support.  I am so humbled at people's generosity.  I want each of you to know how grateful we are.  We don't take any of it for granted.  We also could not complete this adoption without that support.   I hope that I can be the type of parent to Ariya that she deserves.
As we get nearer to meeting her I would like to ask for continued prayers.  Pray for Ariya - she will likely be very scared and not understanding what is happening and why.  She will feel a great loss when we take her from all she knows.  Pray for us - adding a nearly 12 yr. old with special needs, who does't speak or understand english will certainly not always be easy.  I am sure there are going to be difficult times.
Thank you all so much!  Know that every donation, every prayer, every kind word and thought is priceless to us.
