Guess where we'll be May 24?

We'll be in Eastern Europe! Our SDA appt. to receive Ember's official referral is scheduled for May 24!! In less than a month we will be meeting our daughter for the first time! It looks like we will be leaving for her capital city around May 21 and once we get her referral we will be able to travel to her region and actually get to see her. I am so excited. I am so nervous! Suddenly it seems like I have so much to worry about!
I also get choked up when I think about leaving my other kids for 2 1/2 - 3 weeks. I will miss them so much! I will be missing my oldest son's graduation from the 8th grade. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of life, but to him it is a big deal. We'll also be missing this same son's 14th birthday. I know he understands, but it still makes me sad. We'll have to celebrate a bit early!
Then there is my middle boy. My precious 12 yr. old. He is not at all in favor of this adoption. Change doesn't come so easy for him. Please pray that he will welcome Ember without reservation. I do worry about him.
We could use so many prayers now. Ember could also use the prayers. Her little world is going to be turned upside down! Oh goodness I just can't wait to scoop her up and soothe her worries away.
Only 2 more days for our ipad 2 giveaway! Don't miss your chance to get an entry into the drawing! Remember, your donations are not only appreciated - they are tax deductable!

Christ my Lord paid the ultimate sacrifice for me. Tomorrow we will celebrate His resurrection. Thank you God for my Savior.
As I reflect on Easter and what it means to me it helps put things into perspective for me. I admit to being a bit obsessed lately over our financial situation and the adoption. It has become much more of a focus for me than it should and I am losing sight of the adoption itself. God brought Ember to us. This adoption is without a doubt something that God is orchestrating. Why then would I not trust that He won't provide for us financially too? He has brought us this far - His hand has been all over our adoption process. He will see us through.
Today - on the eve of my Savior's resurrection - I turn over my worries. I will enjoy to the fullest the process leading to our daughter.
Tomorrow will be a great day - my Lord has risen!
I will leave you with a picture for cuteness sake! Sienna will be a wonderful "big" sister - they will practically be twins - only 6 mos. apart! Fun!

Why we ask

"I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do"

We ask for Ember. We had not planned on adopting a child - especially a handicapped child who will need lots of medical care and treatment. However as you can see our minds have been changed. We feel absolutely confident that we are supposed to add Ember to our family. We know we can provide her with shelter, food, medical care, and most of all love. Our only obstacle is finances. International adoption costs around $26,000 - it is a crazy, unfair, ridiculous cost! I don't know many families who have that kind of money - I know we don't. Should that be a deterrent in giving a home to a child who would otherwise end up in an institution? We don't think so. We ask for help not for US, but for a helpless child. We are making personal sacrifices to bring her home - we've about emptied our bank account, sold things on ebay, not taken a family vacation, etc. We still need the help of others.
We know God commands us to take care of the orphans. Each of those orphans - including Ember - is God's child. Everyone can make a difference. We are prayerfully asking you to help us make a difference for Ember.

Our iPad 2 giveaway continues yet for another week! Details can be found HERE!

Remember these?

A while back we hosted a giveaway for this pearl necklace and bracelet
Today I unexpectedly got them back. The winners of this giveaway returned them but not to me. They decided that they would like Ember to have them when she gets older. I was so touched! What a special gift that will be to her someday. So, THANK YOU Vern and Trudy Sinkey for not only your generous contribution the first time around but for this thoughtful gift for Ember.

And the answer is...

YES! Our dossier was officially submitted to Ember's country this week. Yay! Now we wait for our appt. where we get her referral and then we make travel arrangements. Oh goodness! I just can't even believe we've been submitted. So close now!

Will it be this week?

Will this be the week our dossier gets submitted to Ember's country?? Thurs. could be our big day. I pray so. Change is afoot in her country though regarding adoption so any moment things may change. It is a hard waiting game to play. I long to have her here.

There is still 2 1/2 weeks left to our iPad 2 giveaway. Please consider making a donation to help us get Ember home and maybe win that iPad!

Speaking of Ember...

I have a new picture to share! Here she is!!

Oh my goodness! I can hardly stand it. The expression on her face just makes me want to scoop her up and comfort her. I pray she has someone to reassure her, to wipe her tears. I know she is in God's hands. I know this adoption is in God's hands. Please pray that we can come up with the money we need so we can travel when we get the go ahead.

"Some luck lies in not getting what you thought you wanted but getting what you have, which once you have got it you would have wanted had you known."
Garrison Keillor

That phrase above is EXACTLY what I feel about Sienna. When she was born, I just didn't know. I didn't know how much of an impact she would have on me, on my life. I wouldn't trade her for anything. I can't wait to see what Ember teaches me and my family. I know she will bless us in ways I just can't even imagine right now.

Our iPad 2 giveaway continues. For additional info go here

Who Ember will be joining

Ember will not be coming home to a quiet, lonely household. Oh no, she will be loved on by 3 big brothers and 1 big sister. Being only 6 mos. younger than Sienna they will be very much like twins. So, just who is this crazy family? Won't Ember just fit right in?

Dossier has arrived!

These papers represent a lot of sweat and tears. Compiling a dossier is time consuming, frustrating, a pain in the "you know what" (but totally worth it) and I am so HAPPY to have it out of my hands and in the hands of Ember's country. The relief is huge. This was the last step for us until we travel to get our girl! The next step is that our dossier - or paperwork - will be submitted to the Eastern European government of Ember's country. This will HOPEFULLY happen on Apr. 14. The government is closed to accepting new dossiers for the next 2 weeks so the 14th will be the earliest we could be submitted. Fingers crossed and prayers being said! Once we are submitted we will be given travel dates. This spring could be very exciting indeed! We just can't wait to have Ember here at home.

And the winner is...

I would like to announce that Vern and Trudy Sinkey are the lucky winners of the pearl necklace and bracelet.
Albert Einstein said "Try not to become a man of success but a man of value"
For all you who have contributed to our adoption I want to thank from the bottom of our hearts. Everyone who prays for us or donates is showing great value in my mind. Every $1.00 donated is a huge deal. YOU are making a difference. Every prayer matters. Without your help and support WE couldn't make a difference for Ember. Thank you. Thank you all for your support both financially and in prayer. We are humbled by your thoughtfulness and generosity.
